Writing Center Experiences

This year I have been to the writing center a few times and every time that I have gone has been a positive and beneficial experience. During the second semester, I went to the writing center for my research paper. I decided to make an appointment once I had gotten everything down loosely. Once I had written out all of the main ideas there was detail and corrections that needed to be made so that the paper would flow smoothly and could be organized. I made the writing center appointment seeking guidance in strengthening my conclusion and working on repetition and transitions.

Working with a writing fellow was very easy and helpful. I was able to address the issues in my paper and also come up with good additions. By reading my paper out loud to my writing fellow the issues which I didn't catch before became visible and my writing fellow was able to better assist me on where to go from there. I was able to construct my outline by figuring out how I could tie up my paper in a successful and interesting way. My writing fellow had me read out each piece again and this helped me see how the paper flowed and if there was any room for improvement. My time at the writing center for my research paper was very worth it and after my appointment, I walked out with progress in all the areas that needed it and also a clear vision on how to continue.
